Hospitality Management

May 8, 2024

Bryan, TXOldham Goodwin, an industry leader in hotel management and development, successfully concluded its annual Hospitality Leadership Conference, “Take Root”, this past week. The event, held at Best Western Premier Bryan/College Station, brought together top executives, managers, and team members from across the company’s diverse portfolio to engage in leadership training, insightful discussions, and networking opportunities.

The three-day conference featured a dynamic lineup of speakers who shared their insights on leadership, innovation, and operational excellence in the hospitality industry. Attendees participated in interactive sessions and workshops designed to enhance their skills in hotel operations and sales and prepare them for future challenges.  A standout moment was the morning keynote address by Amanda Baca, a Texas native and University of Houston hospitality graduate, who has successfully opened two Chick-fil-A franchises in Katy, Texas. Amanda’s inspiring talk, titled ‘Making Good Leaders Great,’ emphasized the importance of dedication and support within leadership roles, inspiring every heart in the room.

Highlights of the conference included the annual awards dinner, where outstanding team members and properties were recognized for their exceptional contributions to the company’s success. “This year’s award recipients exemplify the dedication and passion that are at the core of our company’s values,” said Cole Baker, Vice President of Operations | Hospitality Management Services.

This year’s conference community service project benefitted Scotty’s House Brazos Valley Child Advocacy Center. Participants painted and decorated river rocks to create a welcoming environment for children visiting the center. This project not only served as a team-building activity but also underscored Oldham Goodwin’s commitment to community engagement and social responsibility.

The company is incredibly grateful to all of the sponsors who helped make this event possible. Special thanks to AlphaGraphics, Avendra, Commercial Insurance Solutions, Dowling Electric, Ecolab, HD Supply, LG Business Solutions, Quore, Spectrum, Texas Turf Management, and TTI Technologies for their invaluable support.

“Take Root is more than just a conference; it’s an opportunity for our team to align our strategies, embrace our company culture, and renew our commitment to excellence,” said Cole Baker. “We are thrilled with the outcomes of this event and excited to apply these learnings to deliver even better experiences for our guests and clients.”

Oldham Goodwin remains committed to fostering leadership and innovation within the hospitality industry. Plans for the 2025 conference are already underway, promising even more enriching experiences and opportunities for professional growth.
