Oldham Goodwin Hosts Annual Hospitality Conference

NEW BRAUNFELS, TEXAS — Oldham Goodwin hosted its annual Hospitality Leadership Conference at the Courtyard by Marriott New Braunfels River Village, an Oldham Goodwin hotel. Each year, Oldham Goodwin gathers leaders in its hospitality division across the state for several days of learning, team-building, and fellowship. OG also presented its annual Hospitality Awards, which will be featured in a future story.

This year’s conference included several team-building events, outings and games, and a 5 a.m. cycle bar workout at CycleBar New Braunfels. All of the attending Oldham Goodwin teams also worked together to create hand-tied fleece blankets for infants through Connections New Braunfels.

The 2023 Leadership Conference was headlined by a trio of accomplished leaders who spoke to the group about various dynamics of organizational and team success.

Michael “BT” Blout earned a Silver Star for his service in Afghanistan and is a recognized leader among the United States Air Force’s most dynamic and capable Airmen. Well versed in leading teams and mentoring team leaders, Blout currently serves as the Air Force Special Operations Command Subject Matter Expert for AIC, a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business that provides business and management consulting services.

Jackie Sherrill is a longtime college football coach who won 180 games and coached in 14 bowl games over his career as a head coach at Washington State, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, and Mississippi State. Texas A&M’s legendary 12th Man Kickoff Team was birthed under Sherrill’s leadership, and Sherrill led the Aggies to three Southwest Conference championships.

Clint Rutledge, an author, speaker, and business owner, is the son of legendary Texas high school football Coach D.W. Rutledge. Growing up around the Converse Judson program led by his father, Clint eventually went on to become an All-City player in both baseball and football and helped lead the Judson Rockets to consecutive state championships as a quarterback. Clint now combines his experience in the sports world with years of business success to share lessons on life and leadership with leaders in a wide variety of settings.
